Multifactor Authentication

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) provides an extra layer of security, meaning that even if your Unbiased password was hacked, your account will remain secure.

What is MFA?

MFA is common across a range of online services. Rather than just asking for a username and password, MFA requires an additional verification factor, increasing your account security and decreasing the likelihood of it being hacked.

Why should I enable MFA on my account?

Your Unbiased account contains personal business information relating to your advice firm as well as that of prospective customers we’ve matched you with. It is the duty of each individual account holder to keep this information safe and secure by enabling MFA.

Setting up MFA takes less than 2 minutes and ensures you meet the industry standard for data protection.

How do I set up MFA?

Set up takes less then 2 minutes and all you need is your laptop and mobile device.

What will happen when I log on with MFA?

Once you have set up MFA you will be prompted for a six-digit code when you login to your account.
This code will be sent to your chosen mobile device.
Insert the code into the login box and proceed to your account as usual.

You have the option to tick ‘Remember me for 7 days’ when logging in. This will ensure you remain logged in to your account on that device for 7 days without needing your password or MFA code.

What happens if I can't see the Login & Security tab?

There will be instances where some users cannot see this tab. If this is the case, you will most likely have an account username in the format '123456'. This is a legacy username format and does not allow for MFA. You can change this by contacting your account manager to request this change or by adding a new user to your account via Permissions > Invite user. Here you can add yourself as a new user with your existing email address. Once this has been added and you have confirmed and set a password for the new user via your email, you can login as this new user and delete the old user.
